Sandra Rogers, Ph.D., has 30 years of experience as an educator. She holds a doctorate in instructional design and a master's in teaching. She has successfully designed and developed accessible, effective, engaging, and inclusive courses and learning materials for diverse audiences at both large and small institutions.
Dr. Rogers is an author, educator, futurist, instructional designer, researcher, and trainer. She received her futures thinking training from the Institute for the Future in Palo Alto, California. She has been practicing and applying her futures thinking skill set since 2022 with a cohort at University of California, Berkeley’s Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL) department.
For UC Berkeley, Dr. Rogers collaborated with faculty and the media team to create innovative remote instruction solutions during the pandemic, designed 14 new online courses, redesigned five online courses from summer to academic year, and supported many older courses to ensure they were current in terms of research-based practices, met new accessibility requirements, and included relevant content. For their Center for Teaching and Learning, she served as a consultant and trainer, developing course templates, training presentations, how-to guides, and web pages. She co-created and co-led a community of practice on the use of generative AI for the RTL unit in collaboration with the Library and Data Services.
She has also worked as a designer for UCLA, Spring Hill College, University of South Alabama, and the US Office of Interest formerly in Havana, Cuba.
Dr. Rogers is actively engaged in the scholarship of teaching and learning, having published in academic journals and books on topics such as accessibility, active learning, community of inquiry, digital citizenship, problem analysis, second language acquisition, and the Universal Design for Learning.
